| Born:
11th December 1981 in Leeds. Previous
clubs: Bradford City, Hull City and Scarborough.
Signed:
July 2005.
Scott
Kerr is a midfielder and a former member of the
semi-professional England team; hence he is
highly-rated and has proved an excellent
replacement for Richard Butcher.
Kerr
began his career at Bradford City as a trainee
but left in June 2001 after making just 3
appearances. He joined Hull City for a nominal
fee but failed to make an impact as he played
just once for Hull.
It
was in March 2003 that he turned his career
around, when he signed for Scarborough on a free
transfer. Overall, he made 92 appearances for
Scarborough, scoring 2 goals. Kerr rejected
Barnet to join Lincoln but as he was only
23-years-old, he was therefore ineligible to
leave under the Bosman Ruling unless a transfer
fee is paid.
In
June 2004, Scarborough chairman Malcolm Reynolds
said: "Whoever Scott signs for will have to
pay us a compensation fee to be decided by an FA
tribunal unless the clubs can agree a fee."
However,
in a twist, an admin error resulted in
Scarborough losing ant entitlement to a transfer
fee and Kerr joined Lincoln on a free transfer.
He is an expert at set-piece delivery.
Kerr
was a unsung hero of Lincoln City FC's 2005/06
season's play-off qualifying team. He is a
hardworking midfielder who can pass the ball
well. New Imps' manager John Schofield has
promised that his players will play a more
passing style, which should suit and improve
Kerr. He indeed did enjoy a good 2006/07 season
and was rewarded when he was named as the new
captain.
The
2007/08 season saw Kerr enjoy a steady season,
while retaining the captaincy. His reward was a
new one-year contract that ties to The Imps until
June 2009.
