Lincoln City FC's Midfielders

DANY N'GUESSAN
Born: 11th August 1987 in France.

Previous clubs: Auxerre, Glasgow Rangers and Boston United.

Signed: January 2007.

Dany N'Guessan is an unknown quantity at present after joining Lincoln City FC in January 2007 from Glasgow Rangers. He joined Rangers for £150,000 in summer 2005 from French club Auxerre. It was reported that Manchester City were among several clubs who Rangers beat to sign N'Guessan.

N'Guessan left Rangers without making a first team appearance. However, he played regularly for Boston United between August 2006 to January 2007 when he spent three months on loan at the Lincolnshire club.

He began to find his feet during the 2007/08 season but consistency was a problem, as often he could be brilliant while at other times he could look lost. Hopefully, he will have learnt a lot from that season and will be ready to terrorise defences during the 2008/09 season. Probably the most skilful player on the books of Lincoln City FC.

N'Guessan is nicknamed "the gasman" after former Imp manager George Kerr's pronounciation of N'Guessan's name while commentating on Lincoln's matches!

SHANE CLARKE
Born: 7th November 1987.

Previous clubs: Grantham Town and Stamford.

Signed: July 2006.

Shane Clarke was one of eight youth team players who were offered professional terms at the end of the 2005/06 season.

He is rated as a good prospect for the future and is even tipped as a future captain of Lincoln City FC should his development go as planned.

Clarke has all the ingredients required for an influential midfielder including being a good passer of the ball. He is willing to defend as well as being eager to support the attack.

His leadership skills are improving and considering Lincoln City's current shortage of midfielders, Clarke could well make his first team debut sooner rather than later. He already has some first team experience having played for both Grantham Town and Stamford while on work experience from Lincoln City.

The shortage of midfielders did indeed give Clarke his opportunity as he made his debut for Lincoln City on 5th January in a 2-0 away victory at Rochdale. Unfortunately, he was dismissed during his second match for the club! To his credit, he battled back to regain his first team place despite this setback. He was reward with a new one-year contract that keeps Clarke at Sincil Bank until June 2009.

MARTIN PEMBLETON
Born: 1st June 1990.

Previous clubs: none..

Signed: May 2008.

Martin Pembleton is still a relatively unknown quantity having only signed professional terms in May 2008.

He made his Lincoln City first team debut during Lincoln's 2-1 victory over Hereford United in March 2008. His performance earnt him a starting role when usual midfielders Lee Frecklington and Scott Kerr were unavailable.

Pembleton is nicknamed "the rat" as he likes to keep snipping away at players' ankles!
