Barnet Team News But Match In Doubt
15th January 2010
Lincoln City travel to Barnet on Saturday; however, there
is a pitch inspection at 5.30pm this evening according to
the Official Barnet website so supporters are advised to
check the situation.
If the game does go ahead it will be the first league
fixture that either team have played this year, due to
postponements in recent weeks.
Lincoln are looking to build on their victory over
Chesterfield on Boxing Day, when The Imps arguably put in
their best performance of the season so far. However,
since that game, there has been a number of squad
departures and additions.
Those leaving Sincil Bank were Eric Lichaj (who will be
much missed), Sergio Torres (he brought some attacking
flair to the team), Khano Smith (hardly noticed he was
here to be honest!) and Anthony Pulis (my old grandma
used to say: if you cannot say anything nice then don't
say anything at all; so I won't).
Arriving at Lincoln were four Fulham players although
Adam Watts was already here on loan. Joe Anderson and
Matthew Saunders both started Lincoln's FA Cup tie at
Bolton Wanderers and the former will definitely start.
Saunders will be vying for a midfield place along with
half The Imps' squad as we do have a lot of midfielders
at present. As TFI reported yesterday, Clark Keltie has
indeed snubbed Darlington to sign for City; his deal
lasts until the end of the season and could make his
debut at Barnet.
Although a substitute at Bolton, on-loan Michael Uwezu
did very well and put Lenell John-Lewis to shame when he
came on for him in the second half. I would certainly
prefer to see Uwezu given a starting place ahead of
John-Lewis.
One player who is returning from injury is striker Paul
Connor although it would seem that the Barnet match is
too early for him as he is short of match fitness, but do
not rule him out a cameo appearance from the bench.
Barnet have used their half-month of inaction to get key
players fit, as they look to win a match to halt their
freefall down the League Two table. They have recorded
four draws in their past five home matches, so its
probably a good idea to have a bet on the draw for this
match!
Player/Assistant-manager Gary Breen is now fit but Bees's
boss Ian Hendon is short of squad players after four
on-loan players returned to their parent clubs. To
compensate, Hendon has brought in former Chelsea
midfielder Lee Sawyer on a short-term deal this week.
One player who is definitely missing for Barnet is
midfielder Nicky Deverdics, who has an ankle injury.
