Imps Target Former Blackburn Rovers Player?

b5

8th March 2010

According to sources in Lancashire, Lincoln City are monitoring a former Blackburn Rovers' trainee.

The player in question is 27-year-old Ryan Elderton, who currently plays as a full-back for AFC Fylde.

Morecambe-born Elderton began his career at Blackburn but failed to make an appearance and moved to Stockport County in the year 2000, again on trainee terms. Likewise, he failed to make an appearance at Stockport and left in summer 2003.

Since leaving the professional game, Elderton has appeared for Lancaster City, Barrow and Fleetwood Town before joining AFC Fylde in August 2009.

Apparently he is a good player at AFC Fylde's level, which is on a par with Lincoln United's standard. If Lincoln City were watching on Saturday then they will have seen him start and finish a move that saw him score in AFC Fylde's 4-2 away victory at Bamber Bridge.
