Cambridge
United Friendly
17th December 2005
Cambridge United have agreed to a friendly match against
a Lincoln City XI on Monday.
The friendly is intended to maintain the fitness levels
of their respective reserve team players ahead of the
busy Christmas fixture period. Lincoln City's reserves
last played on November 30th and do not have another
match scheduled until January 11th.
This is second friendly this season between the two sides
as Lincoln defeated Cambridge 4-2 in September, which
included two goals from Marvin Robinson. This was the
turning point in Robinson's Lincoln City career, as he
was instantly recalled to The Imps' first team.
Cambridge are planning on playing former Boston United
winger Courtney Pitt, who has been absent for two months
because of knee ligament damage.
United's manager Rob Newman confirmed: "He (Pitt)
is a Christmas present to myself and the fans!
"He's being put through his final paces at
Lilleshall after some non-contact training with the squad
at the end of last week, and hopefully he will be OK to
play in a friendly on Monday against Lincoln."
