Marvin To
Stay?
20th December 2005
Lincoln City's manager Keith Alexander is hoping that he
can persuade current striker Marvin Robinson to extend
his stay at Sincil Bank beyond January.
Robinson's six-month contract expires in January, and he
is then free to sign for another club during the transfer
window. However, Alexander intends to discuss a six-month
contract with Robinson in an attempt to maintain his
current striking options.
Presently, Lincoln have eight strikers on their books,
but several of these are unavailable. Franny Green and
Omari Coleman are currently on loan, while Danny Bacon is
injured with a broken leg. With Derek Asamoah and Gary
Birch automatic first choices players, this left Maheta
Molango, Robinson and Ollie Ryan rotated as the third
striker.
None of these three achieved a long run in the side, but
Robinson proved the most successful, making 10 starts for
City. However, the loan signing of Richard Logan from
Peterborough United has seen Robinson drop to the
substitutes' bench.
Since Logan and Simon Yeo are potential targets for
Alexander, this could force Robinson to think hard about
his future at Sincil Bank. Depressingly, if Robinson
rejects a new contract and Logan and Yeo do not sign in
January, then Lincoln will face a serious striker
shortage with the burden mainly resting on first-year
professional Ryan.
Alexander confirmed: "He (Robinson) has
done OK for me and I want to keep him until the end of
the season at the very least."
Overall, Robinson has scored three goals in twenty
appearances for Lincoln, since joining on a free transfer
in July.
