League One club Huddersfield Town are the latest to be
linked with Lincoln City's Northern Ireland international
defender Gareth McAuley.
Reports in Huddersfield state that their scouts were
present to watch Lincoln City play Macclesfield earlier
this month. The player they were watching was McAuley,
who seems destined to leave Sincil Bank in January.
McAuley's contract expires at the end of the season, and
Imps' boss Keith Alexander has publicly stated that
McAuley's advisors are keen to play a wait and see tactic
regarding contract talks. Alexander's response to this is
to state that Lincoln will try and sell McAuley in
January, if it seems likely that that he will reject a
new contract.
Should Huddersfield decide to sign McAuley, then he will
link up with former Imps' striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher,
who joined Huddersfield in June.
