Fresh Board
Departures
10th January 2006
Lincoln City have announced two further resignations from
their board to plunge the club into fresh turmoil.
Directors Keith Roe and Kevin Cooke have both resigned at
a board meeting, which was held on Tuesday evening. No
reason has been given for Roe's resignation but Cooke's
was expected, as he represents Castlemaine Accountancy,
who are owned by Ray Trew - the former Imps' Chairman of
Football. Trew resigned from the board last week, and
stated that Castlemaine Accountancy would do likewise.
The resignations are the fall-out of the mysterious
"placing on leave" of Imps' boss Keith
Alexander and his assistant-manager Gary Simpson on
January 2nd. Alexander returned to his post on Thursday
but without Simpson, who accepted a severance payment.
Trew also resigned on same day, citing a "matter of
principle", as his reason.
This is the worst boardroom crisis to hit Lincoln since
March 1983, when the entire board, headed by Gilbert
Blades, resigned.
Currently, Lincoln's board now comprises of two members
plus two representatives from the Lincoln City
Supporters' Trust. The board members are Steff Wright
(Chairman), Stuart Tindall, Dave Beck (Trust
representative) and Jean Foster (Trust representative).
