At Striker Fee
13th January 2006
Lincoln City manager Keith Alexander has suffered another
defeat in his attempt to sign a new striker before
tomorrow's match against Barnet.
Yesterday, Lincoln were outbid by Hull City for Jon
Parkin, although it is extremely doubtful that Parkin
would have signed for a League Two anyway. Today,
Alexander has admitted defeat in signing Kidderminster's
Iyseden Christie, who has been a target of Alexander's
for the past couple of seasons.
Kidderminster are currently struggling in the Conference
league following their relegation from the Football
League last season. Despite this, a number of clubs are
tracking several of their players.
As a result, Kidderminster's manager Mark Yates has vowed
to keep his best players at the club. With this in mind,
Kidderminster have quoted Lincoln a price of £50,000 for
29-year-old Christie, which Alexander says is
unreasonable.
Christie has scored 12 goals so far this season, with 3
of those coming in the LDV Vans' Trophy against Football
League opposition.
Christie's contract expires at the end of the season, so
he could yet play for Lincoln in the near future.
However, Bristol Rovers have also been linked to a move
for the player.
