Keates Asks
To Leave Imps
14th January 2006
Lincoln City have been rocked by midfielder Dean
Keates'
decision to submit a written transfer request to the
club. The transfer request was submitted last Thursday
according to reports in Walsall's local media.
Keates has been one of the positives of an indifferent
season currently being endured by Lincoln. He was signed
from Kidderminster in July and has become a fans'
favourite via his passing ability and his set-piece
deliveries.
Unfortunately, Keates wishes to leave Lincoln because of
the four-hour drive from his West Midlands' home. A
number of clubs are interested in signing Keates and
unsurprisingly, he has been linked with a return to his
former club Walsall.
Keates' contract at Lincoln expires in June 2006,
although he has the option of a second year should he
make a certain number of appearances. Had Keates settled
in Lincoln, then a second year would have been a
formality.
Lincoln are asking for a transfer fee of £25,000 for
Keates, which could deter Walsall.
Ten days ago, he was offered to Macclesfield along with Franny
Green plus a
six-figure fee cash sum for Macclesfield's Jon Parkin;
Macclesfield rejected this offer.
