Christie
Move Back On?
19th January 2006
Lincoln City's rebuked attempt at signing Kidderminster
striker Iyseden Christie could still have a positive
outcome.
Last week, it was revealed by Imps' boss Keith
Alexander that he was interested in signing Christie but
was deterred by Kidderminster's £50,000 valuation of the
player. As Christie's contract expires in June, there was
an implication that Alexander could postpone the transfer
until the summer. However, events have now moved on
significantly.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Rochdale have followed
up their initial interest in Christie by lodging a bid
for the striker. This bid is lower than Kidderminster's
£50,000 valuation but Kidderminster have not immediately
rejected it. Christie is currently one of the top earners
at Kidderminster, who could seize their final opportunity
to cash in on the player before the January transfer
window closes.
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates confirmed: "There
is a deal on the table for Iyseden from Rochdale but we
haven't given them permission to speak to him yet"
"If we can get an adequate replacement we are happy
with and Rochdale match what we want we might take it
further."
The news of Rochdale's bid is bound to persuade Alexander
to have one final try at securing the signature of a
player whom he has repeated enquired about during the
past few seasons.
