Keeper
Leaves
20th January 2006
Lincoln City's second choice goalkeeper Simon
Rayner has
left Sincil Bank to gain first team action.
Rayner, who has represented Canada at youth, Under-20 and
Under-21 levels, has joined Conference North club
Alfreton Town on a month's loan. The transfer has plunged
Rayner into a relegation battle, as Alfreton are
currently next to bottom of the Conference North.
However, they defeated Hednesford Town in their last
league match, to record their first league win since
September 10th.
Despite being a competent goalkeeper, Rayner has
struggled to make an impact in the Lincoln City first
team due to the presence of Alan Marriott. However,
Rayner did make 3 appearances for The Imps earlier this
season, while Marriott served a suspension.
Imps' boss Keith Alexander commented: "Simon has
played very well for us in the reserves and I'm sure he
will do an equally good job for them."
Rayner is expected to make his debut for Alfreton when
they play host to Worksop Town on Saturday.
