Walsall
Gain First Option On Player
24th January 2006
Lincoln City manager Keith Alexander could find that he
regrets releasing defender Peter Folkes from the club.
Folkes departed Lincoln on January 12th, after agreeing a
severance pay deal with the club. He made just three
appearances for Lincoln despite being hailed for a bright
future by Alexander when Folkes joined The Imps in July
2004.
Now, Folkes has attracted attention from League One club
Walsall, although Walsall's manager Paul Merson is unsure
at present. Therefore, Folkes has accepted an offer to
sign for Conference club Tamworth, who will allow Walsall
first option on him.
Tamworth's player-manager Mark Cooper confirmed:
"Peter was on his way to Walsall for a month but
Paul Merson suggested he came to us. He wants to have
another look at him and they would then have first
option."
Folkes is expected to make his Tamworth debut tonight
when his new side travel to Forest Green Rovers.
