Walsall To
Sign Keates?
1st February 2006
Former Lincoln City FC midfielder Dean Keates is expected
to be paraded at a press conference by Walsall on
Wednesday morning.
Wasall have announced that two new players were signing
on late Tuesday evening, although their names have not
yet been released.
The strong rumour is that one of these players is Keates,
and that he travelled to Swindon on Tuesday to complete
the deal - Walsall lost 1-0 to Swindon on Tuesday
evening.
If this proves correct, then Lincoln City's supporters
will be asking questions over why Keates' contract was
cancelled by mutual consent. Two
weeks ago, The
Forgotten Imp
reported that Walsall were interested in re-signing
Keates but were unprepared to pay Lincoln's £25,000
asking price.
On Tuesday - with no bids for Keates having been made -
he and Lincoln City FC agreed to mutual cancel his
contract with The Imps.
Overall, Keates made 24 appearances for Lincoln, and
scored 4 excellent goals for the club. Unfortunately, his
disciplinary record at Lincoln was a problem, as he
missed seven games through suspension.
