Ex-Imps
Lose
10th February 2006
Two former Lincoln City FC players faced their old club
on Wednesday afternoon, but were left disappointed by a
2-1 defeat.
Lincoln City's reserves travelled to Scarborough on
Wednesday for a reserve league match. Included in the
Scarborough reserve side were ex-Imps Neil Redfearn and
Simon Weaver.
Although Redfearn is now manager of Scarborough, he was
not in charge for this match, as Scarborough reserve team
boss Mitch Cook dished out the orders as usual.
After the game, Cook said: "There were a number of
solid performances, but it was a case of Lincoln taking
their chances.
"It could have gone either way and we were unlucky
not to get anything out of it."
Sean McClare had given Scarborough an early lead but
Imps' striker Gary Birch levelled just before half-time
via a penalty. Birch, who remains Lincoln's leading goal
scorer despite losing his first team place, pressed for a
return to the first team when he scored the winning goal
from 25-yards out.
