Teams Track Imp
16th February 2006
The youth policy of Lincoln City FC could pay further
dividends within a short while, as several clubs are
tracking young goalkeeper Scott Loach.
17-year-old Loach is currently a member of Lincoln City's
Modern Apprentice Sporting Excellence (MASE) scheme but
has been offered professional terms at Lincoln for next
season.
Now, his future at Sincil Bank could be in doubt because
several higher league clubs are tracking him.
Blackburn Rovers and Derby County are two clubs who have
today been linked specifically with a move for Loach but
Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool are have also
recently been mentioned.
Reports last year stated that both Bolton and Liverpool
have scouted Loach during various non-first team matches
for Lincoln.
Imps' boss Keith Alexander confirmed to Sky Sports:
"It doesn't surprise me. A few clubs have looked at
him.
"He's six foot four and he's top drawer. But we've
offered him a professional contract and we want to keep
him here."
Should Loach leave during the summer then it is likely
that will do so without making a first team appearance
for The Imps.
Last summer, Loach's fellow MASE student Jack Hobbs
departed Lincoln to join Liverpool in a deal that was
reported to be worth £750,000. The transfer also
includes a yet to be arranged friendly against Liverpool.
