Notts
County Seek Mental Health
24th February 2006
Lincoln City FC entertain Notts County FC at Sincil Bank
on Saturday, kick-off is at 3pm.
Notts County visit Lincoln, seeking to heal their mental
state, as County's manager Gudjon Thordarson thinks his
players have mental barriers to overcome.
Thordarson has this week cited the "human mind and
mental strength" as the reasons for Notts County run
of poor form. After enjoying January, they have suffered
four straight defeats during February.
Understandably, confidence at Notts County is low, unlike
at Lincoln, where The Imps' confidence is sky-high.
The main reason for Notts County's slump appears to be
their inability to score goals. A fact that is backed by
the statistic of Glynn Hurst being their leading goal
scorer even though he departed the club in mid-December.
This fact has also been noted by Thordarson, who has been
critical of his strikers of late. Keen to please his
manager is reserve striker Steve Scoffham, who is eager
for a recall to the first team. His furthered his case on
Tuesday, when he scored his second goal in two
consecutive reserve matches.
One striker who not score against Lincoln is Mark DeBolla
who, earlier this week, left Notts County by mutual
consent.
Lincoln head into this match on an unbeaten run of ten
matches, which means that The Imps are unbeaten during
2006. This good form has propelled Lincoln into eighth
position in the table, as they seek to claim their fourth
successive play-off qualification place.
Imps' boss Keith Alexander would probably have stuck with
same sixteen players as per last week's match at
Macclesfield. However, there will be one definite
alteration because midfielder Nat Brown is suspended. Lee
Frecklington would seem the obvious replacement for
Brown.
These two clubs first met on the 16th November 1893 when
Lincoln won 2-1 at Notts County. In more recent times,
Lincoln's last home victory over Notts County was in
August 1968 when The Imps won 5-0. Please click here for a full historical results
round-up between these two clubs.
