Emergency
Aid To Grantham
5th March 2006
Lincoln City's manager Keith Alexander has come to the
aid of local county club Grantham Town.
Grantham were facing a goalkeeper crisis as their first
choice goalkeeper Mario Ziccardi is currently suspended.
Lincoln, who have strong links with Grantham, have loaned
Imps' youth team goalkeeper Scott Loach on work
experience. Loach made his Grantham debut on Saturday at
Team Bath, and helped his new side to a 2-1 victory.
Loach has become the sixth current or ex-Imp to play for
Grantham Town during the 2005/06 season. Fellow youth
team players Phil Watt and Tom Wilkinson were loaned
earlier this season. Ex-Imps' Grant Brown and Martin
Carruthers have played regularly this season for
Grantham, as has Imps' trialist Willis Francis.
Loach should prove an excellent signing for Grantham, as
despite being a youth team player, he has already been
linked with several top clubs. Last month, scouts from
Blackburn Rovers and Derby County joined those from Aston
Villa, Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool as among the clubs
who are tracking Loach.
Next season, Loach should turn professional, as Lincoln
City have offered him professional terms.
