Bacon
Returns To Action
21st March 2006
Lincoln City striker Danny Bacon continued his return
from a serious injury this afternoon, when he played a
match for the first time in six months.
The match was a behind closed doors friendly between
Lincoln City and Mansfield Town at Field Mill, Mansfield.
In a strange turn of events, this meant that Bacon was
making his return to action against one of his former
clubs.
The match ended as a 1-1 draw but only because
Mansfield's Danny Heron equalised late in the game.
Bacon has been absence from football since suffering a
broken leg in September. In an ironic twist of cruel
fate, he suffered his broken leg while on loan at Burton
Albion - the loan move had been organised for Bacon to
build his match fitness levels closer to those of a
League Two player.
Bacon joined Lincoln City in May 2005 from Conference
North division club Hucknall Town, where he was a
prolific goal scorer. However, he made just two
substitute appearances before joining Burton. Hence,
Bacon has played just 23 minutes of first team football
for Lincoln.
His current contract at Lincoln expires in June, but
Imps' boss Keith Alexander has already promised Bacon
another year in reward for his hard work in fighting back
from injury.
