The Jamie
Show!
24th March 2006
Yesterday, it became a lot easier to recall the names of
Lincoln City's players.........as they are all called
Jamie! Well, ok, not quite all.
Shortly before Thursday's loan deadline, Lincoln
completed a shock loan swoop for Gainsborough Trinity's
midfielder Jamie Sherlock. Earlier in the day, they
signed striker Jamie Forrester on loan from Bristol
Rovers. Both of these Jamies will now link-up with
current Imps' defender Jamie McCombe.
Sherlock's signing is a shock because his career has
actually taken several downward turns over the years. In
2002, he was playing for the then Unibond First Division
club North Ferriby United but left to move further down
the non-league pyramid with Brigg Town.
The gamble proved correct and he became a member of a
successful side. This persuaded Conference club
Scarborough to sign him from Brigg, where he played
alongside current Imps' Colin Cryan and Scott Kerr.
His time at Scarborough also included a loan move to
Ossett Town before Scarborough decided to allow him to
leave permanently. Hence, in summer 2004, Sherlock move
down a division to sign for Gainsborough Trinity.
This season, Sherlock has made 27 league and cup
appearances but has failed to score.
Meanwhile, former Boston United striker Daryl Clare has
signed for Conference club Burton Albion. Clare had held
talks with Lincoln City's manager Keith Alexander on
Monday, but a move collapsed because City would not met
Clare's wage demands.
