Management
Duo Further Careers
14th April 2006
Two of Lincoln City's management staff are to further
their careers.
John Schofield, who is Head of Youth Development has
today signed a new two-year contract, which cements a
first role.
At the start of the 2005/06 season, Schofield moved more
towards a first team role, as he aided Imps' boss Keith
Alexander and his assistant-manager Gary Simpson.
However, events in January were to thrust Schofield to
the front, when he was placed in temporary charge of the
first team while Alexander and Simpson were placed on
leave.
Soon afterwards, Simpson left Lincoln City, which has
created a void for an assistant-manager. Although no
appointment has been made, Schofield has stepped up to
this task, and his new contract is his reward.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Alexander is to
study for his UEFA Pro Licence. The UEFA Pro Licence is a
mandatory qualification for coaches/managers of topflight
European clubs. The English Premier League have
stipulated that all managers must hold this licence by
2010. Already, managers of teams who qualify for the
Champions' League must possess the UEFA Pro Licence.
Alexander sat his FA Coaching Diploma in 2003, which is a
qualification below the UEFA Pro Licence.
