Leicester
City And Liverpool To Visit!
26th April 2006
The 2005/06 season has yet to end, but already, Lincoln
City are planning for the 2006/07 season! That said, most
of their plans are at a preliminary stage.
The one definite is that Championship club Leicester City
are to play a friendly at Sincil Bank on Monday 24th
July, kick is 7.45pm. No ticket details have been
finalised.
The visit of Leicester City is sure to attract interest
among Lincoln City supporters. Unfortunately, there could
be a cruel twist of fate that will attract further
interest because current Imps' defender Gareth McAuley
has been linked to a summer transfer to Leicester City.
The McAuley link originally occurred in January, as
Leicester were expected to make a bid for McAuley before
the transfer window closed. However, Leicester City's
then manager Craig Levein was sacked before a bid
transpired and he was replaced by Rob Kelly. Now, it is
rumoured that Leicester have renewed their interest in
McAuley although this remains unconfirmed.
Also unconfirmed is a visit to Sincil Bank of a
Nottingham Forest team on Wednesday July 26th. This
friendly match will take place only if the two clubs are
not in the same division next season. Both Nottingham
Forest and Lincoln City remain in promotion contention
from League One and League Two respectively.
Meanwhile, Premiership club Liverpool are contracted to
play a friendly against Lincoln City as part of the
transfer that took youth teamer Jack Hobbs to Liverpool.
No date has been arranged for this friendly but one must
take place.
