Peterborough
Rue Compo Clause
11th May 2006
Peterborough United's manager Barry Fry has been left to
rue his club's financial shortcomings.
Earlier this week, the Daily Mirror ran a story that Fry
was set for talks with current Lincoln City manager Keith
Alexander. This is an old rumour that first surfaced this
time last season. As a result, Alexander agreed a new
contract with Lincoln City that entitled The Imps to
substantial compensation should another club poach
Alexander.
Speaking of the press speculation, Fry was forced to
concede that he would like to interview Alexander but the
compensation clause means that Peterborough cannot afford
to poach him from Lincoln.
Fry confirmed: "There is no way we will be
appointing someone who is under contract at another club
because we cannot afford to pay any compensation"
