Imps Target
Hartlepool Midfielder
12th May 2006
Even though Lincoln City have yet to end their season,
they are already planning for the next.
Imps' boss Keith Alexander is looking to strengthen his
squad regardless of whether Lincoln City claim promotion
or not. One target, according to sources in the
North-east, is current Hartlepool United midfielder
Darrell Clarke.
Clarke is a vastly experienced player, having played over
300 first team games for four clubs. He is still only
28-years of age, so is reaching the prime age for a
footballer.
He began his career as a trainee at Mansfield Town in
1995. After 183 games and 28 goals later, he left
Mansfield in 2001 to join Hartlepool United.
Clarke has struggled at Hartlepool of late, making just
12 appearances this season - only 6 of which were starts.
He also spent a month on loan at Port Vale. Last season,
he made a similar move to Stockport County for a month.
Despite his indifferent season, Hartlepool have offered a
new contract to Clarke. Now, it remains to be seen
whether Clarke stays at Hartlepool or if Lincoln City's
reported interest materialises into something definite.
