Midfielder
Signs Contract
17th May 2006
It might be less than 24-hours since Lincoln City were
condemned to another season in League Two, but they are
already planning ahead.
Imps' midfielder Jamie Sherlock is the latest to pledge
his future to the club, after he agreed a new one-year
contract. The renewal of Sherlock's contract is reward
for his training during the past two months.
In March 2006, he joined Lincoln City on a short-term
contract from non-league Gainsborough Trinity in a shock
transfer. He has yet to make his Football League debut
but has featured in several reserve team matches for
Lincoln City.
Sherlock's signing was a complete shock because his
career had actually taken several downward turns over the
years. In 2002, he was playing for the then Unibond First
Division club North Ferriby United but left to move
further down the non-league pyramid with Brigg Town.
The gamble proved correct and he became a member of a
successful side. This persuaded Conference club
Scarborough to sign him from Brigg. While at Scarborough,
he played alongside current Imps' Colin Cryan and Scott
Kerr.
His time at Scarborough also included a loan move to
Ossett Town before Scarborough decided to allow him to
leave permanently. Hence, in summer 2004, Sherlock moved
down a division to sign for Gainsborough Trinity.
During the 2005/06 season, Sherlock made 27 league and
cup appearances for Gainsborough but failed to score.
