For Watford Win Over Leeds
20th May 2006
Although Lincoln City have been eliminated from this
season's play-offs, one of their current players does
retain an active interest.
Tomorrow, the Championship Play-off final between Leeds
United and Watford takes place in Cardiff. The winners of
the tie will win promotion to the Premiership.
Among those taking a keen interest in the final is Scott
Loach, who is the current Lincoln City youth team
goalkeeper. On July 1st, the highly rated Loach will
complete a £50,000 transfer to Watford.
Should Watford secure promotion to the Premiership, then
it would represent quite a jump for Loach, who has yet to
play a professional match. Despite this fact, he was also
linked to Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton
Wanderers, Derby County and Liverpool before he agreed
terms with Watford.
Meanwhile, Lincoln City also have an interest in the
Leeds United camp because Sam Ellis is the
assistant-manager at Leeds. Ellis was a legendary player
at Lincoln during the Graham Taylor era of the 1970's. He
later returned to manage Lincoln in 1994 but his spell as
manager was memorable for all the wrong reasons. After a
disappoint thirteen months in charge, Ellis was dismissed
as Lincoln manager in September 1995.
