Target's Fee Shocker?

As reported here this morning, both Crewe Alexandra and
Bristol City are chasing Lincoln City's defender Jamie
McCombe. However, details have emerged from Crewe that
further compound the potential misery of Lincoln's fans.
McCombe has a minimum release fee clause in his contract.
This means that any club who matches this release fee can
make a bid that Lincoln will have to accept.
A report in the Crewe local newspaper states that this
fee "is unlikely to be much more than
£50,000". If correct, then this effectively means
that Crewe will "steal" one of Lincoln's best
players via this bargain fee.

Meanwhile, Lincoln have offered McCombe a new contract in
an attempt to keep him at Sincil Bank.
