Bristol
City Sign McCombe
25th May 2006
Jamie McCombe has today become the eighth staff departure
from Lincoln City in just over a week.
As expected, McCombe has left Sincil Bank, although not
for Crewe as originally expected. The McCombe transfer
saga began on Tuesday, when Crewe revealed that they had
matched a minimum release fee clause in McCombe's
contract. Yesterday, Bristol City matched that bid, which
allowed them to met McCombe for talks.
While the transfer fee is undisclosed by Lincoln City FC,
sources in Crewe state that is just a mere £5,000.
Bristol City have also chosen not to disclose the fee but
happily say that "it was a nominal fee".
McCombe leaves Lincoln after enjoying his best ever
season during which, he had been handed the captaincy. He
would later receive the Lincoln City Player of the Season
and the Lincoln City Away Player of the Season awards -
as voted by supporters.
Overall, McCombe made 100 appearances and scored 8 goals
for Lincoln City.
