Bristol's
Jamie Slams Imps' Style
4th June 2006
Former Lincoln City defender Jamie McCombe has heavily
criticised Lincoln City's style of play.
McCombe has recently signed for Bristol City in a
controversial transfer that saw Lincoln reportedly
receive a mere £5,000 transfer fee from Bristol City.
This was because Lincoln had agreed to insert a minimum
fee release clause in McCombe's contract, which Bristol
City later met.
McCombe is eager to show Bristol City's supporters that
he is a good signing. In one of the many interviews that
he has undertaken, he has explained how he disliked
Lincoln's style of play - ironically, many of Lincoln's
fans will agree.
Like McCombe, many of Lincoln's supporters are hoping
that a change of manager will provide a more passing
tactical style compared to the style employed by former
Imps' boss Keith Alexander.
McCombe bemoaned: "I didn't want to smash it in the
corners and flick things on but that's what got Lincoln
success with the players they had.
"It wasn't pretty to watch and wasn't great to play
in but you have to do what you are told".
