Imps To
Influence England Match?
15th June 2006
Later this afternoon, England play Trinidad and Tobago in
their second World Cup group match.
A host of familiar faces are on show for both countries,
so it should prove an entertaining game for all
concerned. There will be numerous mini-tactical battles
around the pitch, not least when Wrexham's Dennis
Lawrence tries to prevent Liverpool's 6 ft 7 inch striker
Peter Crouch from scoring.
In a recent interview, Lawrence stated that Crouch holds
no fears over him because "Ben Futcher, who plays
for Grimsby, is 6ft 7in too and I had to deal with him.
So playing against Crouch is not going to be much
different from what I have come up against before."
We will leave Lincoln City's supporters to contemplate
Lawrence's comparison between Crouch and former Imps'
defender Futcher.
Meanwhile, for those Imps' fans watching the match on
television, then look out for the "LCFC - We Are
Imps" England flag is that draped over the rails of
one of the stands.
