Peterborough
Hire More Imps
16th June 2006
Peterborough United have completed their backroom
preparations for the season ahead by luring Lincoln
City's physio Keith Oakes away from Sincil Bank.
Oakes rejoins the club where he enjoyed the best part of
his playing career. After retiring from playing, he
became first, assistant-manager and then later the physio
at Peterborough before joining Lincoln City several years
ago.
Oakes is a well respected physio, and his loss will be a
huge void for Lincoln to fill. He was also on hand to
coach The Imps' defence, which was where Oakes played
during his career.
Peterborough have of course, named former Imps' manager
Keith Alexander as their new boss. Peterborough's
chairman Barry Fry continues to enthuse over Alexander's
appointment.
Speaking, Fry said: "I'm absolutely delighted with
Keith. While I was away six clubs came up to me to tell
me how they wanted to get him as their manager."
Peterborough have completed their backroom staff by
signing the third musketeer from Alexander's Lincoln
days. Joining as assistant-manager is Gary Simpson, who
infamously departed Sincil Bank last January during
"Alexandergate", when both Alexander and
Simpson were placed on leave.
Meanwhile, Peterborough are also hoping to complete deals
for former Imps' Mark Bailey and Richard Butcher. As yet,
there has been no further word on whether current Imps'
striker Simon Yeo will join them or stay at Sincil Bank.
