Lincoln Renew Scunthorpe Acquaintance

21st June 2006

The draw for the 2006/07 season's League Cup has taken place this lunch time.

The draw for the first round had been regionalised and then split into seeded and unseeded groups, which meant that Lincoln could only have drawn one of 18 clubs. These clubs were: Sunderland, Preston North End, Leeds United, Wolves, Stoke City, Leicester City, Burnley, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Rovers, Oldham Athletic, Bradford City or Scunthorpe United.

Lincoln were drawn against the lowest seeded club, which so happened to be county rivals Scunthorpe United. The one legged tie will take place at Scunthorpe United during the week beginning of August 21st. This will be the first time that the two clubs have met since the 2004/05 season.
