Miles From
Yeovil?
22nd June 2006
It is reported that Lincoln City are in the chase to sign
Yeovil Town's defender Colin Miles. However, it is
unclear whether the link stems from Keith Alexander's
wishlist or the wishlist of new Head Coach John
Schofield.
Should Schofield be the man who is seeking Miles, then he
will know that Miles is 27-year-old who can play at
either central defence or as a left-back.
Miles began his career as a trainee at Watford but made
just two appearances before he left to join Greenock
Morton, of the Scottish League, in February 2000. His
stay at Morton was just five weeks, but he did make five
appearances for them.
Upon his return to England, he drifted into the
non-league pyramid with Stevenage Borough before
switching to first, Hayes and then Dover Athletic.
In 2001, Miles joined then non-league club Yeovil Town.
He has since risen through the divisions with Yeovil but
he struggled to keep a first team place in Yeovil's debut
season in the Football League. However, last season, he
was almost an ever present for Yeovil in the debut League
One season.
Miles is now out of contract at Yeovil after rejecting a
new one year contract.
Miles' representative Wayne Elsey confirmed: "He is
now looking at his options, of which there are a few and
he will decide where his future is best served."
Port Vale are another club who have been linked to Miles
but Lincoln's need is probably greater, having lost
central defenders Gareth McAuley and Jamie McCombe within
the past month.
