Ex-Imps For Peterborough
11th July 2006
Peterborough United, now managed by former Lincoln City
FC manager Keith Alexander, are in the chase for two
ex-Imps.
One of the names on their list will come as no surprise
to Lincoln City's supporters because it is former Imps'
striker Simon Yeo. He is expected to complete a transfer
to Peterborough by the end of the week, after he
travelled with the club for their pre-season tour of
Ireland.
Peterborough played the first match of their tour on
Monday evening, when they defeated Sligo Rovers by a 4-0
score line; Yeo scored two of the goals.
Meanwhile, Alexander has identified former Imps' loanee
Guy Branston as the man he wants to replace Sean St.
Ledger, who completed a move from Peterborough to Preston
North End on Monday.
Branston played six matches on loan at Lincoln City
between August and September 1999. Although Branston only
stayed a short while at Lincoln, he impressed many fans
with both his defensive and attacking qualities. He later
joined Rotherham where he was a vital member of the
Rotherham team that rose from the Third Division to the
First Division within two seasons.
Still just 27-years-old, Branston would make an excellent
signing for any League Two club. He is currently a free
agent after recently leaving Oldham Athletic.
