Imps
Offered Yeo Compensation
12th July 2006
Lincoln City have been offered compensation by
Peterborough United for former Imps' striker Simon Yeo.
Yeo has actually left Sincil Bank after he rejected a new
contract at Lincoln City, thereby making himself a free
agent. This normally means that Lincoln City would not be
entitled to compensation for Yeo due to the Bosman rule.
However, one condition of allowing former Imps' boss
Keith Alexander to leave The Imps was that he could not
sign any of Lincoln City's contracted players. Yeo was
under contract at the time of Alexander's departure
albeit for just five more weeks.
Lincoln City, according to reports in Peterborough, were
offered a deal on Tuesday that is based on appearances by
and goals scored by Yeo plus an additional sum if
Peterborough win promotion. As yet, there is no word on
whether Lincoln City have accepted this offer. Should Yeo
go to any other club then Peterborough then Lincoln City
will not receive a penny.
Peterborough's owner Barry Fry is confident that Yeo will
shortly sign for his club. Already, Yeo is an active
member of Peterborough's pre-season squad, having scored
twice on Monday evening in Peterborough's 4-0 victory
against Sligo Rovers.
