Old Friends
Unite For Lincoln Derby
14th July 2006
Old friends and foes are destined to be reunited this
evening, when Lincoln United FC entertain their Football
League neighbours Lincoln City FC.
The Imps have played two pre-season friendlies so far,
with the first ending as a 3-2 victory at Stamford AFC.
Last night, a Lincoln City side combined mainly of youth
team players but with a few first year professionals,
lost 3-1 to Arnold Town.
Tonight's match at United's Ashby Avenue ground will be a
first team affair, although Head Coach John Schofield
might elect to field two different sides as per the
Stamford game.
Meanwhile, United are expected to field several of their
many former City players that are now on their books.
Several summer retirements has reduced the number of
ex-Imps at United, but there is still a large contingent.
Among the familiar names are Ian Wilkins, Jason Minett
and Keiran O'Boyle.
Those people who have bought the Lincolnshire Echo for
the past few days, are reminded by Lincoln United that a
£1 discount voucher has been printed in the newspaper.
