Scunthorpe
Through To LSC Final
18th July 2006
The first of the two participants for the 2006/07
season's Lincolnshire Senior Cup Final were decided
yesterday evening.
The first of the two LSC semi-finals took place at Boston
United, who narrowly lost 2-1 to Scunthorpe United. Both
clubs fielded weaken sides, with Boston United's side
being managed by former Imps' defender Steve Welsh.
Neil MacKenzie gave Scunthorpe the lead in the 51st
minute, which looked to have won the match for
Scunthorpe. However, Boston United's 16-year-old striker
Nathan Forbes equalised with just seven minutes to spare.
In a dramatic end to the match, Scunthorpe won an injury
time penalty, which was scored by Steve Torpey to give
Scunthorpe a 2-1 victory.
Scunthorpe will now met either Lincoln City or Grimsby
Town in the LSC Final. The semi-final between Grimsby and
Lincoln City will take place on Thursday 20th July at
Grimsby.
