Website Maintenance Update

20th July 2006

After eight months,
The Forgotten Imp website has finally completed its revamp, which means that every linked page is up-to-date.

The site was relaunched in December 2005 when the mothballs were dusted off a once popular site, which began life in September 1999. It became an archive site during 2003 as it could no longer complete with the specialist football networks. This was/is a similar story for many independent football supporters' websites. Not that The Forgotten Imp is in competition but there would be little point in continuing if visitor numbers were low. The Forgotten Imp's purpose is to be an additional resource site for Imps' fans.

Unfortunately, since 1999, new computers are not always built with the inclusion of the "Gill Sans" font, which is used throughout this website.

What this means is that while the font face looks nice and legible on The Forgotten Imps' design page, there could be some readers whose computer is distorting the text. It will still be readable but the font might revert to a smaller typeface that the one actually used; the worse case is that the writing is displayed in italics.

Presently, The Forgotten Imp - other than suggesting a Google search to download the Gill Sans font - is at a bit of a loss to know how to correct this. The concern is that this problem might only affect a handful of readers therefore any design error could instead lead to the majority of readers being affected. Hence, for now, there appears little option but to stick with the Gill Sans font while we undertake a crash course in web design.

Meanwhile, now that the whole site has been brought up to date, new features and pages will be added in the near future. Already, we have added profiles of former Imps' players to our retro section. There are also profiles of all first year professionals and new signings in our "meet the team" section. There is an improved League Two club guide complete with local 5-day weather forecasts.

July also saw the introduction of our news headlines box, which is below. This makes it easier for readers to navigate the news headlines as you now need only visit the headline page on one occasion. Please feel free to try below, if you have yet to use this feature. Please also tell you friends about The Forgotten Imp website, thank you.

So here is to a prosperous 2006/07 season, where The Forgotten Imp will follow Lincoln City (hopefully) to promotion! Up The Imps!
