A Tale Of Two
Cities
20th July 2006
Lincoln City FC will play two matches simultaneously this
evening, with one more important than the other.
The most important match of the two for Lincoln City's
supporters is the Lincolnshire Senior Cup tie at Grimsby
Town. The winners of this tie will play Scunthorpe United
in the final, after Scunthorpe defeated Boston United in
the other semi-final.
The second of Lincoln City's matches takes place at
Grantham Town when the two clubs met for a friendly.
Obviously, two games will stretch Lincoln City's
relatively small squad of experienced players. As yet, it
is unclear which players will feature in each particular
match, but a mix between youth and professionals is
expected for both games. Overseeing, Lincoln's match at
Grimsby will be youth team coach Grant Brown.
Grimsby are hoping to encourage more people to the match,
as they are seeking to beat the attendance of 1,512 who
watched their home friendly against Doncaster Rovers
earlier this week.
Lincoln's squad is boosted by four trialists, although
these players cannot feature in tonight's competitive cup
tie at Grimsby. The trialists are Shane Paul, Lee Crooks,
Ryan Amoo and Steve Melton.
Crooks is currently resting from matches, which is why he
has not been mentioned for several days, but he remains
training with The Imps. The latest trialist is
22-year-old Paul, who is a former Aston Villa striker.
