Oh For The
Semple Life!
20th July 2006
As the Gary Birch contract farce draws to a conclusion,
Lincoln City FC are still embrolied in another farce,
this time involving former Imp Simon Yeo.
The latest reported development in the Yeo saga is that
Lincoln City FC will drop their demands for £50,000
compensation in exchange for paying Peterborough "a
small fee" for their winger Ryan Semple.
However, this turn of events might not happen as Chester
City are also interested in signing Semple. Chester are
managed by Mark Wright, who is Semple's former
Peterborough manager. Presently, Lincoln City are
favourites to sign Semple as he is holding talks this
afternoon at Sincil Bank.
Semple, who turned 21 this month, has made 52 appearances
for Peterborough although over half of these were as a
substitute. He has scored three goals for Peterborough
during these 52 matches.
Semple was a trainee at Peterborough but he did spend a
brief loan spell at non-league Farnborough where he
scored twice in nine appearances.
Meanwhile Peterborough are winning the battle to sign
former Imp Matt Carbon. As we reported last week, Carbon
is wanted by Notts County, and has also been linked to
Lincoln City. However, another former Imps' defender Guy
Branston is now less likely to join Peterborough, as he
has received other offers.
