Asamoah
Trials At Scunthorpe
25th July 2006
Former Lincoln City FC striker Derek Asamoah has joined
county rivals Scunthorpe United on trial.
Asamoah is currently without a club following his release
from Lincoln City in June. Last week, he was rejected by
Doncaster Rovers after a trial because Doncaster felt
that they already had players similar to Asamoah.
Now, he has joined League One club Scunthorpe United on a
trial and should feature in their friendly against Leeds
United, which takes place tonight.
Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws confirmed: "We have
brought Asamoah in to have a look at him for a couple of
days to see what he can do.
"We know he has electric pace and is the sort of
player who can get a goal."
Should Asamoah succeed in winning a permanent contract at
Scunthorpe, then he could face his former club, as
Lincoln City have been drawn away to Scunthorpe in the
Carling Cup first round.
