Round Up (28/7)
28th July 2006
Three Lincoln City FC players are facing a race against
time to be fit for the opening match of the season.
Left-back is the most pressing problem, as both Jeff
Hughes and Paul Mayo are on the injured list. Mayo has a
groin injury, while Hughes has a hamstring strain. Of the
two, Mayo is most likely to be fit for Notts County.
Joining Hughes and Mayo on the injured list is new
signing Ryan Semple. Should any player be likely to miss
the Notts County match on August 5th, then it is most
probable that it will be Semple. He currently has a thigh
strain and the injury alone might not heal before August
5th. Even if it does heal, then Semple would be a risk
because he has/will miss several pre-season friendlies.
Meanwhile, former Manchester City midfielder Lee Crooks
will not join Lincoln City. Crooks has spent the past
month training with The Imps but bizarrely, failed to
participate in the majority of Lincoln's pre-season
friendlies.
