Forest Player Joins City
31st August 2006
Lincoln City have strengthened their squad ahead of the
transfer deadline although via a loan signing rather than
a permanent transfer.
The player joining Lincoln City is Nottingham Forest's
right-back Nicky Eaden, who signs on a month's loan.
Eaden, who is 33-years-old, is an experienced
professional having played in the Premiership.
He began his career as a trainee at Barnsley in June 1991
and stayed nine years before leaving to join Birmingham
City in July 2000. Unsurprisingly, Eaden racked up 338
appearances for Barnsley and scored 13 goals.
Eaden was a key member of Barnsley's side that won
promotion to the Premiership, and also a key figure in
their time in the Premiership.
Although Eaden spent just over two years at Birmingham
City, he helped them to a League Cup Final in 2001 and
promotion to the Premiership. He made 90 appearances and
scored 6 goals for Birmingham City.
In September 2002, Eaden joined Wigan Athletic, then of
Division 2. His 135 appearances for Wigan helped the club
to win two promotions thereby culminating in their rise
to the Premiership in May 2005.
Eaden would not feature in Wigan's Premiership side;
instead, joining Nottingham Forest in July 2005. His time
at Forest has so far been mixed, as he was virtually an
ever present until January this year. However, Eaden has
not played a competitive fixture since January 31st when
Forest lost 1-0 to MK Dons.
Eaden is expected to feature at some point in Lincoln's
match against Accrington Stanley, which takes place on
Friday.
