Aston Villa
Takeover Lincoln's Lead!
5th September 2006
Aston Villa, despite having more pressing matters today,
still managed to find time to record a 4-2 victory over
Lincoln City.
This match was a behind closed doors friendly at Aston
Villa, as Lincoln sought to gain match fitness for
several players due to an absence of reserve team
fixtures.
Aston Villa also required a match as several of their
"star" names are returning from injury. Among
those who lined up against The Imps was Czech
international striker Milan Baros. He scored one of
Villa's goals with the others coming from Lee Hendrie(2)
and Sam Williams.
Two of those goals came late on for Villa, to spoil
Lincoln City's hopes of a shock victory. At one stage,
The Imps were leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Danny
Bacon and Ollie Ryan.
