Bacon Joins
Worksop
22nd September 2006
Danny Bacon has decided to join Conference North club
Worksop Town on a month's loan.
Bacon is one of Lincoln City's most unlucky strikers of
recent years having struggled for over a year to gain a
regular place in The Imps' first team.
At the start of last season, he was a regular on the
substitutes' bench but was unable to claim a starting
role. In September 2005, he joined Conference club Burton
Albion. Alas, he suffered a broken leg while playing for
Burton that caused him to miss the rest of the 2005/06
season.
Ironically, Bacon regained his fitness to become a first
choice striker for Lincoln City's opening 2006/07 league
fixture against Notts County. Within minutes of the match
starting, he suffered a nasty head injury and then later
an ankle injury - both injuries saw him unavailable for
selection for several weeks.
Bacon, who has also played for Mansfield Town and
Hucknall Town, will be hoping that this move to Worksop
can kick-start his Lincoln City career. Bacon will play
alongside current Imps' goalkeeper Ayden Duffy - who is
also on loan at Worksop Town - plus former Imp Steve
Robinson.
