Jamie Forrester helped Lincoln City to avenge some previously awful defeats to Barnet by scoring three times as Lincoln romped to a 5-0 victory at Barnet on Saturday afternoon.

Forrester had the easy task of scoring the opening goal in the 26th minute, following excellent work by Lee Frecklington. Scot Kerr had seen Frecklington's quality run, and passed the ball to the Imps' midfielder. He in turn drew Barnet goalkeeper Ross Flitney out of his goal before sliding the ball to Forrester, who scored.

Another piece of fine interaction saw Mark Stallard slot the ball to Forrester in the 33rd minute. Forrester, having beaten the offside trap, was on a one-on-one with Flitney, who took drastic action by fouling Forrester inside the penalty area. Forrester duly picked himself up to score the resultant penalty. Flitney was perhaps fortunate to have faced the penalty, as his foul was deemed worthy of just a yellow card as punishment.

An error by Flitney helped to make the score 3-0 to Lincoln in the 38th minute. Flitney misjudged Kerr's free-kick thereby allowing the ball to run loose to Lee Beevers, who scored from close range.

It became 4-0 in the 53rd minute when a backheel from Forrester released Frecklington. However, Frecklington was fouled inside the penalty area, to leave Forrester claiming his hat-trick from the resultant penalty kick.

Youngster Leon Mettam came on in the 80th minute for only his second first team appearance. He marked the appearance deep into stoppage time when he converted a cross from Paul Mayo to make the score 5-0 to Lincoln City.
