Imps Stun
Rochdale
Lincoln
City 7 Rochdale 1
22nd October 2006
Lincoln City racked up their biggest victory for nearly
24 years when they demolished Rochdale at Sincil Bank.
Anyone who did not attend this match could be forgiven
for thinking that Rochdale were a very poor side. In
truth, Rochdale were your average League Two side - it is
just that Lincoln City showed that they are now a class
above an average League Two side!
Imps' Head Coach John Schofield recalled the players whom
he had dropped in midweek. However, he was forced to
change his side as both central defenders of Paul Morgan
and Adie Moses were absent with injury.
Jamie Forrester was again man-of-the-match, as he scored
a hat-trick as well as turning provider for other goals.
Forrester's first came in the 11th minute when he was
released by Ryan Amoo. The second was courtesy of a
defensive error as Lee Frecklington robbed defender Lee
Crooks on the edge of the Rochdale penalty area.
Frecklington then passed to Mark Stallard, who scored.
Rochdale even had hope of a comeback when they scored
their goal in the 23rd minute. A Rochdale free-kick was
only half cleared and the ball eventually fell to Alan
Goodall, whose volley beat Alan Marriott.
