Round-up (9/12)
Chester
City 4 Lincoln City 1
9th December 2006
Lincoln City FC striker Danny Bacon seems certain to have
played his last match for the club.
Bacon, who has spent the past two months on loan at
Conference North club Worksop Town, has been told by The
Imps that he is free to leave Lincoln City. As yet there
have been no formal offers but Bacon's former club
Hucknall Town are monitoring the situation.
Hucknall manager Kevin Wilson confirmed: "I know how
Danny played when he was here before. There is an
interest and we are just monitoring what's happening.
He's at Worksop at the moment so we've just got to wait
and see."
Meanwhile, Lincoln City's promotion hopes were dented via
a 4-1 drubbing at Chester City on Saturday afternoon.
Chester took the lead in the 19th minute when Roberto
Martinez converted a pass from Jonathon Walters.
Walters then made it 2-0 to Chester when he reacted
quickest to a 52nd minute rebound off the crossbar.
Lincoln gave themselves hope in the 64th minute when a
long throw-in eventually reached Nat Brown, who sent a
right-foot shot into the net for 2-1.
Former Imps' target Gregg Blundell restored Chester's two
goal advantage when he headed ex-Imp Kevin Sandwith's
free-kick past Alan Marriott for 3-1. It became 4-1 in
the 81st minute when Blundell turned provider for
Laurence Wilson to head home.
