Strikers
Join New Clubs
12th January 2007
Two of Lincoln City FC's strikers have today joined new
clubs.
First, striker Gary Birch has wasted little time in
finding a new club after his release from Lincoln City,
which was confirmed yesterday. Today, Birch has joined
non-league AFC Telford United. The transfer is somewhat
of a coup for Telford as they have persuaded Birch to
drop three divisions. They also beat off strong
competition from several English and Scottish clubs to
sign Birch.
Meanwhile, striker Martin Gritton has joined League Two
club Mansfield Town on loan until the end of the season.
Both Gritton and Birch faced stiff competition for a first
team place, although Gritton was ahead of Birch in the
pecking order.
