News Round-Up (21/1)
Bury 2 Lincoln City 2

21st January 2007

Two points lost was the scenario on Saturday after Lincoln City drew 2-2 with Bury. However, it could have been worse, as the match swung from side to the other.

Bury opened the scoring after just three minutes when Andy Bishop capitalised from a corner. It took Lincoln until the 36th minute to find the equaliser, which was scored by Jamie Forrester. Then, in the space of two minutes, the game changed twice. First, Lincoln scored their second goal when Lee Frecklington headed Ryan Amoo's 74th minute cross into the net for 2-1 to Lincoln. Alas, Lincoln's lead lasted just two minutes when Bury substitute John Fitzgerald equalised.

Prior to this draw, Lincoln City FC have already identified three transfer targets including Glasgow Rangers' striker Dany N'Guessan. The 19-year old French born striker scored five goals last season during a loan spell at Boston United. However, Lincoln City face competition for N'Guessan from several unnamed clubs. Rangers would also require a transfer fee.

The second target of The Imps is Huddersfield Town midfielder Adnan Ahmed. This transfer is more advanced than the N'Guessan deal as Ahmed is currently on trial at Lincoln City FC. However, the final decision rests with Huddersfield.

The third target is Aston Villa midfielder Paul Green. The 19-year old is set to undertake a medical at Sincil Bank on Monday and could make his debut against Peterborough United on Saturday. If Green passes his medical, he is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.

One other player who should be at Sincil Bank next season is reserve goalkeeper Ayden Duffy, who has been offered a new one year contract extension. Duffy is currently out injured with a broken leg that was sustained while playing on loan at Worksop Town at the start of January.

Meanwhile, one player who seems to have played his last game for Lincoln City is striker Martin Gritton, who is currently on loan at Mansfield Town. He has recently given an interview to the Mansfield local newspaper in which he talks about his future. Click
